Initial versions of ModalPopup had a problem where form controls in a ModalPopup didn't work. Please try your scenario with the 60626 version of the Toolkit from CodePlex and reply back if that doesn't help. [Checking out the referred thread, yes, that's the issue I'm talking about.]
